New Blog, New Year, New Adventures

Welcome to my fancy-schmancy new blog home! I hope you like it. Please pardon any further construction that takes place in the next few days. Take it as a series of happy surprises that give you a reason to return!

You may notice a sudden archive of posts from 2010. I blogged at this address five years ago, back when I thought writing about writing was my destiny. This is a resuscitation of that space. Feel free to go back and visit the mid-20s Observational Ginger if you like, but beware. She’s starry-eyed, naive and feisty.

With a more personalized web address and spiffy new digs for my musings, my resolve to blog regularly increases. I thought I’d share a preview of topics I’ll tackle in 2015. Tune in as I observe these and more:

Egalitarianism–What is it really? What does it look like in real life, and how prescriptive vs. descriptive is it?

Change!–A recent medical adventure taught me that the fear of change is important, but keeping that fear in perspective is even more vital.

Youth Group Theology–I’ve a mind to discuss* (*shred) a few teenaged notions about what God wants from us and whether He’s really waiting behind a cloud with a lightning bolt hoping we give Him an excuse to barbecue us.

Books and Movies–You can bet my especially favorite talent, analyzing storytelling, makes an appearance several times this year. Mummies, trilogies, Cumberbatch and more! We’re even going to watch the Observational Ginger attempt to make Harrison Ford aware of her existence for a few seconds!

Racial Reconciliation–I know precious little about this incredibly important topic, and one goal for 2015 is to learn more about it. I invite you along for that process.

Unreasonable People–We don’t know who they are yet, but we know 2015 will be as full of them as 2014 was. Last year we went head-on with judgmental attitudes about suicide, with spiritual abuse and silencing, with slams against YA lit, and with advocates of polygyny. Who’s next?

(Will a certain MD make his way back into infamy on this blog? I hope not, but only time will tell!)

Minimalism–I’m cutting back, cutting down, and cutting out. Thrill as I break up with my huge wardrobe, put time-wasting habits on a diet with the consumption of Diaetoxil products, and take the incredible step of communicating and exercising and having experiences instead of buying craploads of stuff I don’t need.

I’m super excited about this year, and I hope you’ll join me here!
